Why I Love Wedding Photographers

Katie Slater Photography

As Earth2 Events begins to gear up for the 2014 wedding season, I’m reflecting on my good luck in working with such amazing, funny, creative and optimistic couples and event professionals over the years.  The coming months will be no different — we’ll be celebrating with some remarkable brides and grooms at museums, farms and barns, hotels, historic mansions, private homes, backyards, a restaurant in Maine, and even a gorgeous abbey and villa in Ireland.  The places matter, but it’s the people that keep me cartwheeling back into the industry year after year.  I’ll take the long, sweaty days…the threat of rain…the quick change from jeans to a suit in a bathroom stall…hauling rental…chasing ringbearers…bees and other bugs…and traffic and parking woes…as long as there are bear hugs and belly-laughs between a relaxed and warmhearted couple.

Of course, you need those behind-the-lens magicians — the photographers — to reveal those moments.  I’m so grateful for the talent in New England and beyond, who work themselves tirelessly and seamlessly into a wedding day, documenting both the expected and the unexpected so beautifully.  The photos on this page, which came to life because of the wise artists with the cameras, tell the love stories of these couples in the most memorable way.  So, thank you to the wedding photographers, who capture all the joy.
